The term spyware is software that collects the personal information that is on the computer and then stores it on the web without consent or knowledge from the consumer. It’s often an add on that is hidden and that’s attached to software that’s been downloaded from a different site than the original site. TrojanHunter’s a program that’s going to scan a computer for adware, spyware, and the Trojan viruses, however, it doesn’t contain spyware.

It’s software that’s anti-trojan and it protects the computer from the viruses that are usually spread from downloading attachments through other applications or emails. It goes through the computer files and the registry to detect as well as remove the Trojans.

It uses scanning techniques that are advanced to detect the trojans as well as the modified trojans through port, memory, and registry scanning. Once they are detected, the trojans are then removed from the computer. 5 Tips for Avoiding Malicious Software From Instant Messengers

Chances are that you using some instant messaging programs, but did you know that you can get viruses through instant messengers just like you can through email? Here are some the tips that you can use to avoid getting viruses through your instant messaging programs.

  • ·        Take care with files and links – Don’t click download, accept, or open a file or click on a link from a person that is a stranger.  If the file or the link is from a person you know, don’t open it or click on it unless you expected the file.  Get in contact with your sender through a phone call, email, or another method to make sure that it’s safe to open.
  • ·        Update the software in Windows – Go to Microsoft Update so that you can scan the computer as well as install the updates that are high priority and which are being offered. If you automatically update your computer, they’re delivered to you as they’re released but you still have to install them.
  • ·        Ensure that IM software is the latests Version – When you’re using the latest version of the software, it’s going to protect you better against spyware and viruses.
  • ·        Use antivirus/anti-spyware software – The best thing that you can do to protect your computer is to use anti-spyware and antivirus software and make sure that it’s updated.
  • ·        Don’t run computer as an admin – It’s a good idea to run the computer as just a user instead of administrator.  This is an option that is offered in Vista and 7.  You can be a regular user and still have the benefits of administrators.  This is going to help avoid unwanted software such as viruses.

These are five things that you can do when you are on instant messengers to help avoid viruses and other things that can come through the messengers.  Do them and you’ll be protected.

Nine Ways to Protect Against Computer Viruses

If you have a Microsoft Windows based PC system, you can protect it from viruses with a little preventative care. Follow these nine steps to protect your computer, and your data.

1. Back up your system regularly and make sure you run a driver update. Even with the best protection, you could still come down with a virus. However, the damage done won’t rock your world if you have adequate backups of your data. Flash drives, CDs or an external hard drive are good sources to store backup data.
2. Reinstall your system if you contract computer viruses. Keep copies of your operating system and your software together, just in case a computer virus sneaks in and you need to get up and running again quickly.
3. Use a Firewall to protect your network connection. This software blocks connects that appear suspicious from penetrating your computer. Some operating systems come with their own Firewall, or you can find your own and install it.
4. Employ anti-virus software on all of your computers. This software scans your system regularly and looks for computer viruses. If it finds them, it erases them from your computer so they can’t do any damage.

5. Always trust reliable FTP programs like FileZilla to transfer your files from one system to another. Using a secure FTP program yourself you can transfer files from your computer to the hosted space securely without needing the help of third party vendors.
5. Update your operating system regularly. This helps ensure you have the latest security protocol on your side.
6. Avoid downloading and installing software that seems suspicious. Look at the software creator of the official distributor to find out if software is reputable.

7. Always use a trusted peer to peer file sharing program in order to download and share audios, videos, documents and digital media. P2P programs like Ares are malware and spyware free and give 100% clean download.
8. Steer clear of Internet Explorer. It’s the most common browser today, and is the most likely culprit of computer viruses. Instead, try Firefox or Opera and only use Internet Explorer on websites that aren’t compatible with other browsers.
9. Limit who can access your computer. Install a password and only share it with people who you want to have access to your computer.
10. Protect your computer against spam. Email is a common way to distribute computer viruses; eliminating spam email will help protect your computer.

Virus Free Computers: It’s Possible!

Anytime you’re on the Internet, you’re at risk of catching a computer virus. They can sneak into your computer, destroy your data and damage your system until it’s virtually useless. While some viruses can travel with the purpose of collecting personal information off your computer, most are spread solely for the purpose of destruction. The best way to keep computer viruses away from your hard drive is to understand more about them.

The symptoms of an infected computer are easy to spot, especially if you’re used to computer performing at top-notch speeds. If you have a significant increase or decrease in the amount of data stored in a file, it could signal that a virus has attached itself to that file. If you suddenly receive pop-up messages, unsolicited graphics and if files are deleted from your system, those could also be signs that you have a virus on your computer.

If you’re not sure whether or not you have a virus on your computer, it’s best to run anti-virus software. This software, available from companies like Norton, McAfee, AVG and more, will scan your computer looking for computer viruses. If it finds an infection, it will safely remove it from your computer. If you set your anti-virus software to run regularly, it will check for updates on a certain schedule, so your computer always has the most up to date protection. In most cases, you can find free versions of anti-virus software through the company’s website. It may not offer all of the bells and whistles as the version you’re required to purchase, but most people don’t need all those features anyway.

While anti-virus software will protect your computer from viruses, you should take precautions on your own. Never download anything unless it comes from a reputable company, and avoid clicking on links or downloading files that look suspicious in your email.
